Holy month

FOLLOWING A TRADITION: A woman reads the Ramayana. The Malayalam month of Karkkidakam (July 17-August 16) is called the ‘Ramayana Masam’ (month dedicated to reciting the Ramayana). Every Hindu home in Kerala reverberates with verses from ‘Adhyatma Ramayanam,’ written by Thunchathu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan, who is considered the father of Malayalam literature.
