Water shortage hits surgeries at Medical College Hospital
Thiruvananthapuram: All hospitals and institutions inside the Medical College campus have been hit by water shortage following the pipe burst at Chalakuzhy lane on Sunday night.
The Medical College Hospital (MCH), where hundreds of elective and emergency surgical procedures take place on a daily basis, has been the worst-hit. Only emergency and important surgeries were carried out on Tuesday, MCH authorities said. The pipe line that burst is the main line supplying water to the MCH campus from the Kerala Water Authority’s Peroorkada reservoir. However, in the absence of an alternative, MCH had to depend on water brought in tanker lorries.
