Old and young, all under one roof

Anasuya Menon

At ‘Attitude’, an entire family can learn a thing or two

COIMBATORE: There is something for everyone here, provided they are in the age group of three to 99. At ‘Attitude,’ a centre which offers training in a variety of skills starting from cooking to dancing, art, craft, handwriting, aerobics, yoga and personality development, the entire family can learn a thing or two. The youngest student at the centre is two-and-a-half years and the oldest, 73, says Kavitha Jain, proprietor of the institute.

Though women throng the institute, it has a sizeable number of men and children too. “A lot of men, especially in mid-forties show interest in the dance classes and enrol for them. It is an excellent way of relieving them of work pressure and stress,” Ms.Jain adds. In dance, there is a wide range to choose from – western, classical, folk, and ball room dances such as jive, cha cha, salsa and meringue. For women, fitness dance will be another option. The yoga sessions too are varied. Close to 30 faculties from various parts of the country teach here and the response to the institute has been good, Ms.Jain says. Each class will have a batch of eight.

Cooking classes

While classes in dancing and aerobics can be taken in over three months, cooking, craft and art have specialised weekend packages. For school-going children, the handwriting course will be an asset, she observes. For home makers and those who are interested in cooking, the institute offers special coaching in starters and mocktails, Indian cuisine, continental cuisine, Mexican, Chinese and Thai cuisine and desserts .

The institute also offers a horde of personality development skills.
