RTC brings out DVD depicting major lapses on part of drivers

GUNTUR: Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has learnt a lesson from the May 3 bus accident at Gundlakamma Bridge near Vinukonda in Guntur district and has come out with a Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) reconstructing several major lapses on part of its drivers. A 40-minute high-quality documentary ‘Bhadratha’ has been produced by Transport Academy at Hyderabad for training its habitual/accident-prone drivers in all regions of the State.

A former employee from RTC Guntur Region and currently Principal of Academy Ansari, has produced/directed and acted in the documentary that has an imaginary travel of bus service from Rajahmundry to Nagarjuna Sagar Project site. To make the drivers and conductors identify themselves with the storyline and characters, real drivers and conductors, passengers and other employees have been used at real locations to provide authenticity.

Discipline

With a tight script and fluent dialogue delivery/dubbing, Mr. Ansari has not missed the RTC jargon, original style of functioning to drive home the message crystal clear. These DVDs distributed all over the State on Friday will be used at training programmes for the drivers and conductors, who log in accidents of any kind, Guntur Regional Manager G. Jaya Rao told The Hindu.

“Number of accidents involving RTC buses has created a sense of unrest among the top bosses, who have decided to reign in discipline and better adherence to safety norms,” he added.
