Filling up: The water level at KRS Reservoir touched 113.30 ft as against the full reservoir level of 124.80 ft on Sunday.
MYSORE: With Kodagu, the catchment area of the Cauvery, continuing to receive good rain, the inflow into KRS Reservoir near here is continuing to rise steadily. It touched 113.30 ft on Sunday as against the maximum reservoir level of 124.80 ft. According to sources in the Irrigation Department, KRS Reservoir recorded an inflow of 34,863 cusecs on Sunday while the outflow was 7,215 cusecs. The water level in KRS Dam, which dipped to 67 ft and was close to the dead storage level last month, increased dramatically since the onset of monsoon in June-end. The water level, which stood around 67 ft on June 21, touched 89.57 ft on July 1, thanks to copious inflow into the reservoir. Even though the authorities released water from the reservoir into the river for a few days in view of the good inflow, the water level at KRS Dam reached the 100-ft mark on July 3. The good inflow continued with the reservoir receiving 40,450 cusecs on July 5 when the water level touched 105.90 ft. Though the water level reached 113.30 ft on Sunday and was barely 11 ft from the full reservoir level (FRL), the sources felt it would take longer for the water level to increase henceforth in view of the expansion in the water spread of the reservoir as the level goes up. The sources were of the opinion that it would take a minimum of 10 to 15 days more for KRS Dam to reach the FRL at the current level of inflow.
