Tirupati: In all about 400 tonnes of vegetables worth about Rs.50 lakhs is estimated to have been donated to the TTD by the wholesale vegetable vendors from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka during the last three years. Bulk of the vegetables donated are utilised by the TTD for its ‘Nitya Annadanam’ programme under which about 15,000 pilgrims are given free food daily. The vegetables are also used for kadambam’ and midday meal scheme.
