Chennai: B. Adhiban, the 14-year old student from Cambridge Matriculation School, Royapettah, joined the ranks of International Masters when he completed the final norm by winning the Asian under-16 chess championships, with a round to spare, at Uzbekistan on Saturday.
Splendid form
Adhiban has been in splendid form this year winning the two IM norms in the Parsvnath International Open in Delhi and Dubai Open in April.
He becomes India’s 53d IM.
Adhiban’s trainers are GM R.B. Ramesh and IM T.S. Ravi, both from Chennai.
