Chennai: The State Government has constituted a 19-member State Road Safety Council, with the Transport Minister as Chairman. Other members include the Chief Secretary, Transport Secretary, Director-General of Police, Additional Director-General of Police (State Traffic Planning Cell), Chennai Police Commissioner and Chennai Corporation Commissioner. The Transport Commissioner will be the Member-Secretary. It will advise the Government on road safety policies and programmes. It will review the programmes of different departments and agencies and forward its findings to the Government for action. It will review implementation of the road safety policy. — Special Correspondent
