The condition of Uppalam Road in the Vanchiyoor ward is very bad. There are potholes throughout the road. Pedestrians and two-wheeler riders find it difficult to pass through this road. Hope authorities will look into the matter. Karamana Mani, Vanchiyoor Locked coaches
At the Trivandrum Central Railway station, when empty rakes of trains are brought to the platform, some of the coaches, general compartments in particular, remain locked. Last Wednesday, doors to the coach (number 11 96428/A) of the Trivandrum-Kottayam passenger remained closed for a long time even after the rakes were brought to the platform. Authorities should take steps to ensure that the doors remained open when they are brought to the platform. V.K. Kumar, Thiruvananthapuram Arches a nuisance
Arches on roads have become a perennial nuisance for motorists. In spite of warnings issued by the Public Works Department (PWD) against putting unauthorised arches on roads, these continue to come up at vantage points in the city. Though the PWD maintains that most of these arches are unauthorised, no action has been taken to dismantle them. The arches remain an eyesore apart from causing inconvenience to the public. Strangely, most of these arches are erected to announce exhibitions, celebrations organised by Government establishments.
