VIJAYAWADA: CPI State secretary K. Narayana on Friday advised the Government to open talks with the State leaders of the Left parties, instead of seeking a dialogue with their national leadership over the issue of ‘Bhooporatam’ (distribution of land for the poor). Speaking to reporters here, he asserted that the Left parties’ struggle for justice to the landless poor would be intensified in the days to come and the leadership of the ruling Congress would have to open its eyes to the needs of the poor people in the State. He described the ruling party’s move to talk to the Left parties’ national leaders as a “useless effort”. Along with scores of CPI and CPI (M) leaders, Mr. Narayana participated in a district-level conference on the ongoing ‘Bhooporatam’ held at Hanumantharaya Grandhalayam. Addressing the meeting, he called upon the cadres of the Left parties to get prepared for a greater and more challenging struggle during the course of their agitation.
