VIJAYAWADA: District joint collector S. Suresh Kumar clarified that the State Government had issued new guidelines with regard to land conversion. As per the new orders, the agricultural land should be converted into commercial, industrial and residential areas by duly taking permission. In addition, the nala tax should be paid before converting the land, he said. He said 10 per cent of land value would be collected as one-time nala tax. Hence, the people need not pay the nala tax every year. The people should apply for conversion of land to the revenue divisional officers, who would issue the certificates within 60 days.
