IT raids: Bangarappa seeks answers

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: State Samajwadi Party president S. Bangarappa on Thursday demanded a comprehensive inquiry by the Income Tax Department to ascertain if there had been any misuse of power to help land developers amass wealth, which was detected during the department’s recent raids.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Bangarappa also demanded that the department make public details of the seizures made from the houses of the developers during the raids. Action should be initiated if power had been misused to amass wealth, he said.

He welcomed the decision to form two more districts, Ramanagaram and Chickballapur, but said the longstanding proposal to bifurcate the bigger districts of Belgaum and Gulbarga should also have been approved.

The party has named youth wing president Sheriyar Khan as its State secretary. Bheemarao V. Limbavali has been appointed president of the youth wing.
