Isha stuns second seed

NEW DELHI: Qualifier Isha Lakhani shocked second seeded Monique Adamczak of Australia 7-5, 6-3 in the first round of the $25,000 ITF women’s Challenger tennis tournament at Istanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday.

Rushmi loses

While Isha got past the Australian with ease, Rushmi Chakravarthi found the top-seeded Kyra Nagy of Hungary a tough nut to crack and lost 3-6, 3-6 in the first round.

Other results: Doubles (pre-quarterfinals): Rushmi & Isha bt Tugce Dogan & Melis Sezer (Tur) 7-6(2), 6-0; Ankita & Sanaa bt Huliya Velieva & Lyutfya Velieva 6-1, 6-4.
