NEW DELHI: Junior lad Abhishek Das stunned ninth seed Azer Mirzoev while Woman Grandmaster Eesha Karavade drew with third seed Hichem Hamdouchi in the second round, as the Indians continued to have a good time in the Sort Open chess tournament in Sort, Spain, on Tuesday. Abhishek was among the 13 leaders, including Aswin Jayaram, Vishal Sareen and Tania Sachdev, at two points. Meanwhile, at the 15th Torneig International Open in Montcada, in Spain, R.B. Ramesh opened his account by defeating the lowly-rated local Juan Bosco Prats Rodriguez in the second round. The results (second round, involving Indians): Eesha Karavade (1.5) drew with Hichem Hamdouchi (Mar, 1.5); Dinesh Kumar Sharma (1) lost to Oleg Korneev (Rus, 2); Abhishek Das (2) bt Azer Mirzoev (Aze, 1); Levan Aroshidze (Geo, 2) bt R. Arun Karthik (1); Abhijeet Gupta (1.5) drew with Ja vier Vallejo Diaz (Esp, 1.5); S. Vinay Bhat (USA) bt T. Purshothaman (1). Kruttika Nadig (1) lost to Aswin Jayaram (2); Vishal Sareen (2) bt Guillermo Buxade Roca (Esp, 1); Tania Sachdev (2) bt Angel Vilchez Gonzalez (Esp, 1); Tamaz Gelashvli (Geo, 1.5) bt Devangi Patankar (1); Sahaj Grover (1) bt Lucia Martinez Ramirez (Esp, 0); Irene Minguez Morona (Esp, 1) lost to Soumya Swaminathan (1); Shobana Iswarya (1) bt Monica Garcia Salamero (Esp, 0).
