NEW DELHI: Viswanathan Anand took things easy with black pieces and settled for a 21-move draw with Boris Gelfand during an uneventful third round of the Sparkassen Chess Meeting 2007 at Dortmund on Tuesday. Like Anand, World champion Vladimir Kramnik, too, signed peace after 21 moves against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov with black pieces. Since all four games ended in draws, Kramnik, who turned 32 on Monday, and fellow Russian Evgeny Alekseev continued to lead with two points. The results (third round): Boris Gelfand (Gre, 1) drew with Viswanathan Anand (1.5); Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Aze, 1.5) drew with Vladimir Kramnik (Rus, 2); Magnus Carlsen (Nor, 1.5) drew with Evgeny Alekseev (Rus, 2); Peter Leko (Hun, 1 .5) drew with Arkadij Naiditsch (Ger, 1). Fourth round pairings: Anand-Naiditsch; Alekseev-Leko; Kramnik-Carlsen; Gelfand-Mamedyarov.
