Yasin Merchant beats Joshi

MUMBAI: Yasin Merchant, the Asian runner-up, tightened up his game in time for a 3-0 win over Devendra Joshi in Group C of the inaugural Nahar Group-MIG all-India invitation snooker tournament here on Wednesday.

India’s top cueist, Alok Kumar, got the better of Ashok Shandilya in Group A, winning 90-24, 90-34, 65-29.

The results (pre-quarterfinal league): Group A: Alok Kumar (PSPB) bt Ashok Shandilya (Rlys) 90(64)-24, 90(49)-34, 65-29; Aditya Mehta (Mumbai) bt Rishabh Pandya (Mum) 55-25, 18-61, 94-47, 65-56.

Group B: Rupesh Shah (Mum) bt Shravan Mohta (Nagpur) 66-53, 71-29, 87(67)-1.

Group C: Yasin Merchant (Mum) bt Devendra Joshi (PSPB) 52-48, 60(51)-21, 59-45; Brijesh Damani (Kolkata) bt D. Rajkumar (Kar) 42-91, 65-17, 63-42, 70-43.
