Many go home with multiple offers in their hand Many candidates opt to change their stream
VISAKHAPATNAM: The first ever - The Hindu job fair in Visakhapatnam was a thumping success with thousands of people thronging the Rajeev Gandhi indoor stadium from the morning till the evening on Saturday. As many as 12,000 applicants filled in the forms for the job fair which provided an excellent meeting ground for employers as well as potential employees. Many freshers as well as experienced candidates with their resumes were interviewed on the spot and quite a lot of them went home with jobs in their hands. P. Sudhi Rao was offered as many three jobs on the spot. And she is not the only one. K. Manoj and Lakshmi Narasimhan among many others got selected in Skylark Infowaves, a company from Hyderabad. With big companies like Cognizant, HSBC, Genpact recruiting large number of candidates, it was an event from where a majority of participants took something back home. For all the job seekers, it was a chance to learn, get educated and interact with large number of companies. Vamsidar Bopanna who was looking for a job in IT or web Technology related field, submitted his resume to Cognizant and was interviewed at Synctec. While sharing the enriching experience in the fair, he said, “It is an excellent environment and the first job fair of its kind in the city. I am glad to have come here and to have an opportunity to interact with so many companies from different places in the short time and also getting to meet other applicants.” Worth the wait
Though the waiting queue was quite long to get entry as the response to the Fair was overwhelming but it was worth the wait and the effort. M.N.V. Prasad who had one-year experience in a call centre found it little inconvenient to wait for his turn but the trip to the fair would serve as a good guide for his future career path. He said he could now make a well-informed decision about his future career path. After seeing large number of jobs available in the IT and BPO companies, some candidates even decided to be open to other streams or to change their streams.
