India loses to Iran

CHENNAI: India began its campaign in the second Asian Central Zone volleyball championship in Islamabad on Tuesday with a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Iran.

Iran won 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-23. According to information reaching here, the new-look Indian team, without some of the seniors, played with a lot of enthusiasm. Even though P.S. Srikanth and Gurchand shone in the attack, there was laxity in the blocks and defence in a contest that lasted 85 minutes. — Special Correspondent
