THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Industries Minister of Kerala, Elamaram Kareem, has said that the industrial sector is passing through probably its best period after independence. The Minister, who was speaking at a function organised here on Wednesday to launch the website and release the brochure of the National Institute of Personnel Management’s silver jubilee annual conference 2007 to be held at Hotel Leela Kempinski, Kovalam, in September, said the sector was witnessing sweeping changes which were giving a new lease of life to it. He expressed satisfaction at the clearance of new projects of undertakings like FACT, Keltec, Hindustan Newsprint and the Hindustan Latex in Kerala. They involved investment of crores of rupees. He stressed on the growing importance of personnel management and said that the scientific and effective utilisation of manpower would make industries commercially successful. He released the conference brochure by presenting a copy to the Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Latex, M. Ayyappan. He also launched the conference website: www. nipmtvm.org/nc2007. Earlier, P. Sudeep, Chairman, Thiruvan anthapuram Chapter of NIPM, welcomed the gathering, and G. L. Muraleedharan, general convener, local organising committee, proposed the vote of thanks.
