New Delhi: After winning the two warm-up games convincingly, Indian women’s hockey team is geared up to take on host Japan in the four-match Friendship Series in Tenri on Tuesday. The Mamta Kharab-led India defeated Nanto Bank 3-0 in its opening warm-up game, while it got the better of Tenri University 3-1 on Sunday. In the game against Nanto, Mamta, Surinder Kaur and Saba Anjum scored. The Indians staged a fightback to win the second game. Rattan Summer put Tenri ahead by converting a penalty corner. But, Suman, Saba and Mamta converted a short corner each to ensure the visitors’ victory. — PTI
