Third front leaders to meet today

CHENNAI: Leaders of the recently formed third front is meeting here on Monday to discuss the front’s strategy for the coming Presidential election, scheduled to be held on July 19. The meeting is convened by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalaithaa.

The front leaders have already ruled out their support to the Congress candidate. Meanwhile, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat contacted Ms. Jayalalithaa over phone on Saturday and sought her support to his candidature.

The leaders of eight regional parties, including the AIADMK, the Telugu Desam, the Samajwadi Party and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam met in Hyderabad on June 6 and formally launched the third front — Special Correspondent
