CHENNAI: The Citi Bank Group has invited nominations for the national-level Micro Entrepreneur Award 2007. The award, instituted in 2004, recognises micro entrepreneurs who have risen from poverty to self-sufficiency and also contributed to society. Partners in Change is the process implementation partners for the programme. Eleven awards were given away last year. Selection process
The nominees would be chosen from the north, east and northeast, west and central and southern regions. The selection process would be guided by a national advisory council comprising eminent personalities, according to a press release. Entrepreneurs, including differently abled and those tested positive for HIV/AIDS, are encouraged to apply for the award, the release said. The candidates should be nominated by the non governmental organisations, banks and micro finance institutions concerned. Cash prize
Besides trophies and citation, the winners from the four regions would receive Rs. 2 lakh each and the runners up Rs. l lakh each.
