NEW DELHI: Already out of the Test team, Virender Sehwag was today axed from the One-Day team as well when the National selectors met here to choose the team for upcoming tours of Ireland and England.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was elevated as the vice captain of the 15-member team that plays three ODIs against South Africa in Ireland and one against Pakistan at Glasgow, Scotland.

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai youngster who scored consistently in the domestic cricket for two seasons, has been rewarded with a place in the squad.

Barring Sehwag, those dropped from the team to Bangladesh are Dinesh Mongia, Munaf Patel and Manoj Tewari. Ajit Agarkar makes one of his innumerable comebacks.

Gambhir back in team

In the 16-member Test team for the three-match series in England, Sachin Tendulkar will be the deputy for Rahul Dravid. Opener Gautam Gambhir returns to the squad while Bengal medium pacer Ranadeb Bose stands rewarded for taking 58 wickets in the last domestic season.

Munaf Patel, Rajesh Pawar and V.R.V. Singh have been dropped. Harbhajan Singh stays out of the team.

For ODIs against Ireland and Pakistan: Rahul Dravid (Capt.), M.S. Dhoni (vice-captain), Gautam Gambhir, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Karthik, Zaheer Khan, S. Sreesanth. R.P. Singh, Ajit Agarkar, Piyush Chawla, Ramesh Powar, Robin Utthappa and Rohit Sharma.

For Tests against England: Rahul Dravid (Capt.), Sachin Tendulkar (vice-captain), Wasim Jaffer, Dinesh Karthik, Sourav Ganguly, V.V.S. Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, M.S. Dhoni, Zaheer Khan. S. Sreesanth, R.P. Singh, Anil Kumble, Ramesh Powar, Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Ranadeb Bose.
