BANGALORE: HAL Sports Club and State Bank of Mysore entered the quarterfinals of `The Hindu Trophy' limited overs cricket championship, registering facile wins here on Tuesday. After making a modest 161 in 27.4 overs, HAL dismissed its rival for 100 in 22 overs, thanks to R. Manoharan, who claimed four wickets for 14 runs in a match-winning spell. SBM beat LRDE Sports Club by nine wickets. LRDE, batting first, crashed to 80 in 23.2 overs with Chetan Williams taking five wickets for eight runs. SBM coasted to the target, losing only opener K.L. Vishwanath's (37) wicket.
The scores: LRDE SC 80 in 23.2 overs (Chetan Williams five for eight) lost to SBM 81 for one in 10.5 overs . HAL SC 161 in 27.4 overs (Mahesh 47, B.K. Kumar 43) bt BEML RC Bangalore 100 in 22 overs (R. Manoharan four for 14). BEML (2) Mysore 232 for five in 30 overs (Ashok 63, Altaf 49) bt RBI RC 186 for nine in 30 overs (A.K. Ramesh 44). KPTCL 168 for nine in 30 overs lost to Vijaya Bank 174 for one in 17.1 overs (Rajshekar Shanbal 73 n.o., K.M. Aiyappa 72 n.o.).
