NEW DELHI: A woman and her paramour have been arrested on charges of killing her husband whose torso was found dumped near a railway track at Punjabi Bagh here this past week.
Torso found
The torso was found stuffed inside a gunny bag on the night of May 31. The head, arms and legs were missing. Several teams were formed to conduct enquiries to establish the identity. A door-to-door survey was conducted in adjoining areas. The efforts bore fruit as Geeta, a resident of Shakurpur, told the police that her brother Rajkumar, an auto-rickshaw driver, was missing since May 30. She later identified the torso as that of Rajkumar from a scar on the chest.
Strained relationship
It came to light that Rajkumar had had a strained relationship with his wife Meera. Suspecting her involvement, the police picked her up for questioning. She purportedly confessed to having murdered him along with her neighbour and paramour Kanwar Singh Chauhan. She allegedly disclosed that Rajkumar use to beat her up regularly under the influence of liquor. Owing to his continued misbehaviour, Meera came close to Kanwar and both allegedly conspired to eliminate him. On the basis of her purported revelations, the police arrested Meera and Kanwar. During interrogation, they allegedly disclosed that Rajkumar was asleep when they strangled him on May 30. They then allegedly slit his throat, dismembered the head, legs and arms and packed them in separate gunny bags. The next evening Kanwar allegedly dumped the head near Sohna Road in Haryana, limbs into a dry drain near Shakur Basti, and hands and the chopper and legs in a desolated area at Dhaula Kuan. At his instance, the police have recovered the body parts and the murder weapon.
