Councillors protest

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Over two-dozen councillors of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, mostly Gujjars, caused a commotion at a meeting of the House in Town Hall here on Monday expressing solidarity with Gujjars demanding Scheduled Tribe status in Rajasthan. Led by Bahujan Samaj Party leader Sahi Ram, the agitated councillors, including two independents, thronged the well of the House, shouted slogans against Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and even broke a table and a chair.

"Since the Gujjars have given a call for Delhi bandh today [Monday], we will not allow the House to transact any business," the councillors said.
