Staff Reporter

Tamil Nadu customers can choose from over 2,000 songs

  • The service can be activated by dialling 676
  • Monthly rental for the scheme is Rs.25

CHENNAI: Airtel has launched background scores to phone calls for its customers across Tamil Nadu.

The service allows customers to choose their favourite song or instrumental piece to run as a background tune while they talk to their family and friends. The BGM (background music) can be selected from a number of tunes on the Airtel Interactive Voice Response system.

The service is activated by dialling 676, following which the user has to follow instructions on the IVR. The Airtel database has over 2,000 song choices under six categories such as instrumental, top-ten, Bollywood, regional, English and natural sounds.

A monthly rental of Rs.25 is charged for the service, with each download costing Rs.10.

Calls to 676 are at the rate of Rs.2 per minute and the BGM-enabled calls will cost Rs.2 per minute.
