Health Ministry directive to AIIMS

NEW DELHI: The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Monday directed the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here to allow consultant, protocol and public relations officer B.K. Dash to resume duty immediately. It also ordered that he be allowed to retain his present official residence.

According to a previous order by the Ministry, Mr. Dash was asked to join as consultant, protocol and public relations officer by January-end. "I was, however, not allowed to join duty by the AIIMS director then. This latest order requires me to take charge on Tuesday,'' he added.

Children's painting

exhibition opens

NEW DELHI: A week-long children's painting exhibition on "Children for world peace" opened at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture here over the weekend.

Inaugurating the exhibition, Nehru Bal Samiti director S. P. Govil said the paintings were a manifestation of children's artistic insight and perception.

The exhibition, dedicated to International Day of Children's Protection, showcases select paintings by Russian and Indian children.

NEW DELHI: The Indian National Students' Organisation has set up 12 "helpline booths" in various colleges of Delhi University to assist newcomers in the ongoing admission process.

Students can ring up the following helpline numbers -- 9868708236, 9212513500, 9869407007 and 921366322 -- for assistance related to admission.

They can also get information at www.insoindia.com.

Uphaar victims begin a campaign

NEW DELHI: The Association of the Victims of Uphaar Tragedy has organised a 10-day campaign for justice to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the fire tragedy that claimed 59 lives.

The campaign was launched at Smriti Upavan near Uphaar Cinema in Green Park over the weekend.

The campaign will continue, every day from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., till June 12. It will end on June 13 with a "havan" and "shanti paath" followed by "bhajans".

The Association has urged the public to join the campaign for justice and extend its support to the cause.
