Four policemen killed in ambush

Guwahati: Four policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, were killed and two policemen injured when suspected militants of the Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) ambushed a police team near Koilapahar under Dilai outpost of Bokajan police station in central Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Sunday.

Police said that a group of about 10 KLNLF militants in battle fatigues waylaid the police vehicle and sprayed bullets from automatic weapons. The militants also looted weapons. The injured policemen later reached the Dilai outpost and informed about the ambush.

Prayer meeting

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi led a prayer meeting in memory of the six killed in the recent blast at Athgaon here. Mr. Gogoi also distributed compensation of Rs. 3 lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased.
