Abhinav, Raghunath miss final by a point

NEW DELHI: Abhinav Bindra and P. T. Raghunath shot identical scores of 595 out of 600 and missed the air rifle final by one point as the shooting World Cup in Munich concluded on Sunday.

Raghunath finished tenth as he followed five rounds of 99 with a 100. Abhinav had to be content with the 13th spot in a field of 130 shooters, a commendable effort after he had missed three points in the first 200.

Since India has already collected the maximum possible two Olympic quota places from the men's air rifle event.

However, in the women's air rifle, in which India has won only one quota place so far through Avneet Kaur Sidhu, both Tejaswini Sawant and Suma Shirur fared below par, to finish 40th and 76th respectively with scores of 394 and 391.
