John performs hat-trick

HYDERABAD: Striker John Rodricks performed a hat-trick to guide Trimulgherry Village `C' to a 5-0 win over Venkatapuram in the Sachdev Sports under-13 football tournament here on Sunday.

Surya and Ajay struck once each in the first-half before Rodricks dominated the proceedings in the second session with fine solo efforts.

In another match, James Senior XI scored a 2-0 win over United Club with Sashi and Sashank scoring one goal apiece.

Centre Battery recorded a 3-1 win against Trimulgherry Village `B' thanks to a brace from winger Reuben and a solo by Murali, while Pavan Singh reduced the margin.

In the last match, TVG `A' scored a 2-0 win against Gitanjali with Yogesh and Akhilesh netting once each.

Gymkhana in last eight

Gymkhana `A' won 2-0 over AG Colony Coaching Centre in the pre-quarterfinals of the Gotla Cup football tournament.

Winger V. Arjun's solo effort in the 30th minute put Gymkhana ahead, while Rohit completed the tally for the winners.

In another match, Valluvarnagar got a walk-over from Maisram Stars when the latter did not turn up.

SCA posts win

Sarojini Cricket Academy (SCA) scored a five-wicket win over KSRP Bangalore in the last league match of the under-12 category of the all-India Pepsi Cup cricket tournament in Bangalore, according to information received here.

The results: KSRP, Bangalore, 179 (Kunal 53, Kaushik 34, Vishal three for 29, Krishnakanth three for 40) lost to Sarojini Cricket Academy, Hyd, 180 for five (Kranthi 77, Santosh 32, Nishant 38).

Vinay selected

International player Vinay Yadav has been selected to represent Indian Railways in the World Railways basketball championship in Bulgaria from June 4 to 10.

Vinay is an employee with the South Central Railway.
