NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday visited the upcoming new Dilli Haat at Pitampura and declared that it would be inaugurated in November this year. Accompanied by Education and Tourism Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and MLAs, Anil Bhardwaj and C.S. Kandera, Ms Dikshit took a round of the Haat site and said it would be spacious, beautiful, well designed and equipped with ultra modern facilities and ample parking space. Stating that the Haat would present an incredible opportunity for investors, entrepreneurs and artisans to profit through its unique selling proposition, the Chief Minister said it had come up in a prime location and in close proximity to the Delhi Metro. The Pitampura Haat is coming up on 7.2 acres and will have 108 craft shops, 11 temporary shops, a multi-purpose pavilion for craft exhibition with a capacity of 100 display or exhibit counters besides 20 food kiosks and a food court for 400 persons. The Chief Minister said her Government was also considering setting up another Dilli Haat in East Delhi. Ms. Dikshit also visited the Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial that is coming up at the Singhu border on National Highway 1. After inspecting the ongoing work, she expressed confidence that it would be an outstanding memorial at the Capital's entry point. The sweeping green curves, geometrical granite planes and imposing stainless steel forms would make it a marvellous piece of architecture, she said, adding that the memorial coming up on a 11.57 acre plot would cost Rs.10.5 crore.
