Kerai goes down fighting

KOLKATA: Harish Chand Kerai missed out on the semifinals spot of the men's recurve bow event of the 20th Golden Arrow Grand Prix archery tournament, third leg of the Meteksan World Cup.

He went down fighting to Xue Hai Feng of China in the tie-break after both tied 106-106 at Antalya on Thursday. With this the Indians campaign in the individual section came to an end.

The two tied at 106 all. In the first one arrow tie-break both tied 9-9 and in the second the Chinese got a 9 and Kerai hit a 7. On Wednesday, Rahul Banerjee stunned a quality field in the 30m recurve bow event by placing first with a total of 357 points. He took an overall 17th position with a total of 1317 points.

Tarundeep Rai finished 25th (1308) while Harish Chand Kerai was 37th (1300). The Indian men's recurve team, comprising Banerjee, Rai and Priyank, was placed 10th with a total of 3885. In the women's individual recurve competition as all three Indians were eliminated in the preliminary stage.
