Sivakasi Town CC wins title

Sivakasi: Sivakasi Town Cricket Club won the first division title while, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar, won the second division title and Galaxy Cricket Club, Sivakasi, won the third division title in the Virudhunagar District Cricket Association leagues for the year 2006-2007, which concluded recently.

As usual, the last two teams of the second and first division will have to play in the third and second division and the first two teams of the second and third division shall play in the first and second division respectively in the coming year.

Final placings: First division: 1. Sivakasi Town CC 32 pts; 2. J.C. Sports Club 29; 3. Mepco Engineering College 28; 4. Tasmanian Tigers 22; 5. Challenger Star CC 18; 6. Sri Kaliswari College 12; 7. Srivilliputhur Town CC 9; 8. Young Indians CC 9; 9. War Horses 4.

Second division: 1. VHNSN College 30; 2. Kamaraj Engineering College 28; 3. Boys CC 23; 4. Majestic CC 21; 5. Metro CC 21; 6. Bhaarathi CC 21; 7. Super Power CC 9; 8. Panther CC 4; 9. Liberty CC 0.

Guthoose beats Karthik

Y. Guthoose of Pot Black Center beat M.H. Karthik of Billiards Kingdom 42-56, 52-26, 62-34 in the third annual District-level snooker tournament at Madurai on Thursday.
