Siddarth, Adhikari in final

BANGALORE: Unseeded S. Siddarth and Rahul Adhikari set up a title clash in the boys' under-14 singles of the Kinesis-Wilson AITA Talent Series junior tennis championship at the Kinesis courts at Whitefield, near here on Thursday.

Siddarth defeated Chirag Mondal 7-5, 6-1 while Rahul after a sloppy start, rallied to beat the third seed Raghavendra 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The boys' under-16 singles semifinals ran on a predictable pattern with the top-seed Vishnu K. Jinan making the final with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the fourth seed Varun Satynarayan. Vishnu will meet the third seed V. Senthil Kumar of Tamil Nadu who ended the impressive run of qualifier Arvind Vibhute of Gulbarga 7-6(2), 6-4.

There were no surprises in the girls' section with fancied Rachita Sarda and Preeti Gokhale entering the final of the under-16 singles. In the under-14 singles final, second seed S.P. Ritu takes on Shruti Ashok.

Boys: U-16: Singles: Vishnu K. Jinan bt Varun Satyanarayan 7-5, 6-4; V. Senthil Kumar (TN) bt Arvind Vibhute 7-6(2), 6-4.

U-14: Singles: S. Siddarth bt Chirag Mondal 7-5, 6-1; Rahul Adhikari bt Raghavendra 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Girls: U-16: Singles: Rachita Sarda bt Dhruti Venugopal 6-3, 6-1; Preeti Gokhale bt Shruti Ashok 6-4, 6-2.

U-14: Singles: Shruti Ashok bt Preeti Ujjani 6-3, 1-6, 6-2; S.P. Ritu bt Preeti Gokhale 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
