NEW DELHI: Sai Karthik of Andhra Pradesh beat top-seeded Lakshit Sood of Uttar Pradesh 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7) in the quarterfinals of the boys' section in the AITA National series under-16 junior tennis tournament at the Yamuna Sports Complex here on Thursday. In another quarterfinal, the third-seeded Shantanu Rajput outplayed the sixth-seeded Rohit Bisht for the loss of two games. The boys' doubles titles went to the Sood brothers, Lakshit and Chandril, as they overcame Sai Karthik and S. Siddharth in three sets. Qualifier Likitha Devraj of Karnataka made the girls' singles semifinals, along with Rishika Sunkara, Shweta Rana and Neha Purohit.
The results: U-16 boys singles: Quarterfinals: N. Sai Karthik bt Lakshit Sood 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7); Prateek Bhambri bt Vedant Kapoor 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Shantanu Rajput bt Rohit Bisht 6-0, 6-2; Samip Mehta bt Chandril Sood 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Doubles: Final: Lakshit Sood/ Chandril Sood bt N. Sai Karthik/ S. Siddharth 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. U-16: Girls: Quarterfinals: Likitha Devraj bt Jaanesh Kaur 6-4, 1-6, 6-1; Shweta Rana bt Natallia Khaneijo 6-3, 6-1. Neha Purohit bt Arushi Sharma 6-0, 6-0; Rishika Sunkara bt D.
