VALUE ADDITION: Voice Matrimony service is available in 15 languages.
BANGALORE : A candidate can `sound out' a prospective `would be' before going further with "I like the face, but I wish I could hear his/her voice before proceeding further." This has been the unspoken wish of thousands contemplating matrimony and using modern tools such as the Internet to find a suitable life-mate. Now Bharat Matrimony, a leading Web portal, has added technology to make this possible. In addition to posting text, pictures or videos, candidates can record a brief statement about themselves and upload it using a mobile phone. One can also listen to the expectations of a prospective partner and if one decides to proceed further, can even exchange voice messages for a better understanding.
Anonymity protected
The web service will protect your anonymity until you decide to reveal yourself. The voice feature is being offered in partnership with OnMobile, a cellular technology company promoted by Infosys. Speaking to The Hindu on Saturday, Murugavel Janakiraman, BharatMatrimony.com's CEO, said: "Voice Matrimony helps users express themselves freely in the language they are comfortable with, play back their message and also re-record them if required." The service is available in all 15 languages that the portal (www.bharatmatrimony) supports. Only Airtel users can now avail themselves of the voice feature, but it is being extended to other mobile providers. Last year Bharat Matrimony entered the Limca Book of Records as the Indian web site that facilitated the highest number of marriages over 700,000 over seven years from 1996. It has 10 million active members.
