Heat wave conditions in Andhra, Tamil Nadu to continue
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Weathermen at the India Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast that the heat wave conditions over coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu is likely to continue for two more days.
Speaking to The Hindu , IMD sources said the situation could, however, ease after Friday. The heat wave conditions had been prevailing over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu because of the cyclonic system in the Bay of Bengal.
The system had prevented the sea breeze from setting in. Now, with the system crossing the coast in Bangladesh, the situation was likely to improve.
Depression
Meanwhile, the cyclonic system has weakened into a depression and lay as a well-marked low-pressure area over south Assam and adjoining areas of Manipur and Mizoram this afternoon.
Under its influence, fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during next two to three days.
The weathermen also forecast that isolated thunder squalls are likely over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan over the next two to three days.
