CHENNAI: The Ramar Sethu "is only a figment of imagination," created by certain political parties, according to Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani. The DK has decided to hold public meetings in Chennai and Madurai to "expose" these parties, which are "politicising the Sethusamudram Canal Project by joining hands with communal forces. Mr. Veeramani said the project was aimed at creating jobs, pushing up the economic growth of the State and earning more foreign exchange. Mr. Veeramani said the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had not raised the issue when the project was proposed during the BJP regime at the Centre.
