Uncle held for girl's murder

KANCHEEPURAM: The police have arrested the maternal-uncle of a five-year-old girl, whose body was found near the hill temple at Tiruporur on Friday.

Disclosing this to reporters at Tiruporur on Monday, Superintendent of Police A.Amalraj said Damodharan (20) took his niece sleeping beside her mother in front of the hill temple, to a secluded place behind the temple and attempted to molest her.

When the girl tried to raise an alarm, he slammed her against a rock. On interrogation, Damodharan confessed he had committed the murder, Mr. Amalraj said.
