CHENNAI: Armaan Ebrahim and his Team Tara DTM were not stripped of the pole position due to any technical problems in the Formula Renault V6 series in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, according to Akbar Ebrahim, Armaan's father. The organisers had decided to cancel the final qualifying session as one driver had posted a quicker qualifying lap in the preliminary qualifying session under yellow flags. "Team Tara DTM and Armaan protested this decision to the appellate body as their legitimate pole position was denied to them for no fault of theirs," he said. Both races were run under protest. In the first race Armaan got hit by Australian driver Karl Reindinger while overtaking him and that destroyed the front wing of his car and put him out of the race. Armaan had to start 11th for the feature race on Sunday. In the feature race, Armaan moved from 11th place to third place by the first corner and never came into contact with anyone. "He was hit from behind by an out-of-control Marchy Lee, who himself was hit by Adderly Fong. Adderly also collided with Karl Reindinger, Hans Lin, Jeffrey and Setria from Indonesia. In fact, the carnage involved seven cars and only four remained at the end of lap one, when the race was suspended," Akbar said. Of the four cars that took the re-start, Parthiv Sureshwaran finished third, but moved to second spot due to a jump start by Hans Lin. Armaan did not finish in the feature race as his car was badly damaged in lap one itself.
