MUNICH: Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber reached his first ATP Tour final by beating fourth seed Marcos Baghdatis 6-2 6-3 at the Munich Open on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Kohlschreiber overwhelmed his Cypriot opponent in the first set. From 3-1 down in the second, the unseeded German reeled off five games to seal the semifinal victory in one hour and 20 minutes.

Kohlschreiber will meet Mikhail Youzhny, who overcame Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-3 in the other semifinal.

At Estoril, Victoria Azarenka of Belarus reached her first career final after beating third-seeded Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-0. The 18-year-old Azarenka converted all five break chances and hit 57 total winners.

Azarenka will play Greta Arn of Germany, who beat Nuria Llagostera Vives 7-6(0), 6-2.

At Warsaw, Belgian top-seed Justine Henin outlasted Serbia's Jelena Jankovic 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 to reach the final of the WTA tournament on Saturday.

Despite her defeat, Jankovic will achieve a career-high ranking of six on Monday.
