Dipika training in Egypt

Chennai: Asian under-15 squash champion Dipika Pallikal shifted her training base to Egypt in November, and has since then worked specifically on her speed and fitness under former top-40 player Mohamed Hafiz.

"Her physical fitness was what needed immediate attention when I started working with her. It has improved now," Hafiz told The Hindu, here.

Dipika will go though speed and fitness training under Hafiz for a nearly a year, after which the duo will shift their focus towards improving her tactical play. She is presently under the Mittal Champions Trust.

"I will be playing more WISPA events, which will help me improve my game. But the focus this year, will mostly be on training," said Dipika, here.

Dipika will take part in the WISPA event in Hurghada (Egypt) on May 7.

She had earlier participated in the junior British Open, where she lost in the pre-quarterfinals. — Sports Reporter
