VISAKHAPATNAM: BSNL player Rajesh's fine all-round performance of a five-wicket haul followed by an unbeaten half-century went in vain as the team went down by 20 runs to Naval Dockyard in the VDCA institutions league. D.V. Appa Rao of L.G. Polymers and Pathak of Eastern Naval Command played a major party in their teams' victories with a five-wicket haul each in other matches.

The scores: Naval Dockyard 183 in 29 overs (JKM Raju 41, K. Ram Gopal 31, Rajesh five for 59) bt BSNL 163 for four in 30 overs (Rajesh 50 n.o., Ram Krishna 39).

Naval Armament Depot 84 in 22.2 overs (Sher Singh 42, D.V. Appa Rao five for 10) lost to L.G. Polymers 85 for no loss (A.V. Krishna 41 n.o., Jay Krishna 39 n.o.).

ENC 232 for eight in 30 overs (Dinesh 79, Vikas Sharma 54, D. Venkatapathy Raju four for 60, Sanjay three for 60) bt HPCL 120 in 23.5 overs (Rajasekhar 33, Hari Prasad 32 n.o., Pathak five for 45, N. Abbas four for 35).
