Congress' reaction

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's comment that Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the future when the latter is already under severe criticism for his immature statements on Babri Masjid and the formation of Bangladesh is deplorable.

That a person of his stature has opted to jump on to the bandwagon of sycophants is unfortunate indeed.

J. Mrithyun,
Coimbatore

The statement that the Gandhi-Nehru family was responsible for achieving freedom is an insult to the people of this country. Rahul Gandhi needs to learn a lot before claiming leadership. It is a pity that the Prime Minister has projected him as the gen-next leader.

Chennai

One would like to ask Mr. Gandhi why India is still living in poverty. Why are farmers still committing suicide? Is it because his "family" has not decided to do anything about them?

It is indeed unfortunate that none other than Dr. Singh is hailing a person with such a distorted sense of history as the future leader.

S. Sudhir Kumar,
Hyderabad
