JSSC scores win

BANGALORE: Jayantha Seneviratne School of Cricket (JSSC), Colombo, defeated Imitiaz Ahmed Cricket Academy (IACA) by 20 runs in the first tie of the three-match under-15 cricket series here on Thursday.

In an under-13 match, IACA emerged victor on better run-rate. Chatura hammered 113.

The scores: U-15: JSSC, Colombo 205 in 49.3 overs (Navod Gunasekara 45) bt IACA 185 in 41 overs.

U-13: JSSC 224 in 47 overs (Chatura 113) lost to IACA 202 for eight in 40 overs (Shantanu Sharma 54).

Big win for VNS

VNS Basketball Club pounded Appaiah Sports Club 24-2 in the girls' section of the State under-13 basketball tournament here on Thursday. The winner led 16-0 at the half-time. Mithali scored 12 points for the winner.

In the boys' section Mangalore BC beat Bangalore Sporting 43-35. The scores were tied 15-15 at the half-time. Arun (17pts) and Rohan (13) shone for the winner.

Other results: (Boys): Pattabhiramnagar BC 35 (Biswas 12, Chidananda 11) bt Beagles SC 26 (Renuka Prasad 12); VNS BC 32 (Prithvi 18, Nikhilesh 10) bt Young Orions 16 (Dheeraj 6); Rajmahal BC 36 (Suhas 10, Mapan 8) bt Southern Blues 13 (Subash 5).

Selection trial

A selection trial will be held at the Karnataka State Hockey Association stadium on April 17 to choose the State team to play in the All India Civil Services tournament. Interested Government employees may report to Mr. Venkatesh, Coach, at the Akkithimmanahalli Stadium on April 17 at 9.30 a.m.
