MUCSC well placed

Mysore : After restricting The Mysore Gymkhana for 85 for nine declared, Mysore University Colleges Sports Council (MUCSC) made 232 for eight in 58 overs at close on the first day of the three-day final of the Sri Gopalaswami Memorial tournament played here on Friday.

The Mysore Gymkhana 85 for nine decl. in 21.1 overs (inclusive of 40 penalty runs for four overs short) vs MUCSC 232 for eight in 58 overs (Aditya B Sagar 74, M.R. Darshan four for 44).

Exhibition match

The Karnataka State Cricket Association XI will play an exhibition tie against Coorg XI at the junior college grounds in Virajpet in Kodagu on April 26.

The players hailing from Kodagu, who have donned various national, State senior and junior colours, would be felicitated. International umpire, A.V.Jayaprakash, will hold an umpires' clinic for those interested at the same venue on April 24 and 25.

Junior National hockey

The nine-day 3rd junior National hockey (u-18) tournament will kick-start at Achraya Nagarjuna University campus in Guntur on Saturday in which 36 teams will participate, according to tournament director K.S. Sokhi of West Bengal.

The Andhra Hockey Association general secretary M. Niranjan Reddy said the Sports Authority of India (Combined) team was taking part for the first time under the supervision of former Olympian and senior National coach Rajinder Singh.

"The tournament will be formally inaugurated on the evening of April 14 in which ANU Vice-chancellor Prof. Bala Mohandas will be the chief guest," he said.
