NEW DELHI: MPs from the Parliamentary Forum of Other Backward Classes (OBC) on Friday urged the Centre to take steps for early vacation of the stay on implementation of reservation for OBC in central educational institutions at the earliest so that the current academic year was not lost. Forum convenor V. Hanumantha Rao met Union Human Resource Minister Arjun Singh and expressed shock over the decision of the Supreme Court staying the operation of 27 per cent reservation. He said while the States in South expressed their anger by calling for a bandh , OBC students in the North too agitated. "I have received reports that OBC students of NIT, Patna, JNU, Delhi, Delhi University and students from Mumbai colleges apart from Southern States have gone on agitation. OBC associations in Mumbai, Lucknow, Patna, West Bengal, Delhi have conducted protests including advocates. This upsurge and awakening from the OBCs of North India as compared to 1990s, is unprecedented," Mr. Rao said in his letter.
