VISAKHAPATNAM: Tamil Nadu scored a seven-wicket win over Andhra in the inaugural South Zone Twenty20 cricket tournament at the ACA-VDCA Stadium here on Tuesday. S. Anirudha's knock of 50 (4x4, 1x6) and an unbeaten 51-run stand for the fourth wicket between Dinesh Karthik (34) and Hemang Badani (26) made things easy for Tamil Nadu. Earlier Y. Gnaneswar Rao slammed 67 runs (4x4, 4x6) and V. Manoj Sai (40, 4x4, 1x6) helped Andhra make 166 for eight. Karnataka beat Kerala by 54 runs in another tie. C. Raghu top-scored for Karnataka with an unbeaten 53 (7x4, 1x6) and later picked up two wickets. Robin Uthappa made 40 (4x4, 1x6). Hyderabad recorded a 21-run win over Goa at the Zinc Stadium. T. Suman scored 42 runs (6x4, 1x6) and later claimed two wickets. Former Test cricketer and Director of National Cricket Academy Shivlal Yadav inaugurated the tournament at the ACA-VDCA stadium. The scores: Andhra 166 for eight (Y. Gnaneswar Rao 67, V. Manoj Sai 40, D. Tamil Kumaran three for 39) lost to Tamil Nadu 167 for three in 17.5 overs (S. Anirudha 50, Dinesh Karthik 34 n.o., Devendran 29, Hemang Badani 26 n.o.). Karnataka 178 for five (C. Raghu 53 n.o., Robin Uthappa 40, Devraj Paul 29) bt Kerala 124 in 20 overs (Chendresekhara 30, Arun Paulose 25). Hyderabad 158 for eight (T. Suman 42, Ibrehim Khaleel 39, Rishi Raj 25, Shabad Jakati three for 20) bt Goa 137 in 20 overs (Segun Kamat 36, Amol Shinde three for 17, Indrasekhar Reddy three for 20).
