Darby invests Rs. 75 crore in ECEL

CHENNAI : Darby Overseas Investments, the private equity arm of Franklin Templeton Investments and a provider of private equity and mezzanine capital in emerging markets, has committed an investment of Rs. 75 crore through an affiliate of its Darby Asia Mezzanine Fund II in Escorts Construction Equipment Ltd. (ECEL), the wholly owned subsidiary of Escorts. This investment provides ECEL with a capital base to fund its expansion plans and to meet the fast widening supply-demand gap, says a release.
